The Terrace Cafe & Tea Rooms

The Terrace plays host to visiting tourists from all around the country and the globe. We invite them to taste our delicious menu whilst relaxing in the peaceful surrounds of the cafe and terrace.

Melburnians & our loyal locals who visit the Royal Botanic Gardens regularly also love The Terrace for its dining, relaxed location, views and our friendly dedicated staff.

Bookings cannot be taken to reserve tables for guests selecting from the a la carte menu. There is ample seating both inside and outside the cafe throughout the day and hot food is delivered to the table by our staff with a table stand number system.

Hot food is available from 9.40 am to 2.00 pm daily.

Daily menu

We are proud to continue The Terrace's tradition of home made scones, jam & cream - as it simply would not be The Terrace without them! Also available are freshly made baguettes, ribbon sandwiches, gourmet salads, yoghurt and muesli and fresh food salad.

We released a new menu in December which has been given the tick of approval by our friendly locals and international visitors! Our kitchen is opened between 9.45am and 2.00pm daily. Counter food is available until 4pm if not sold out.

High Tea

High Tea bookings are pre-paid with reserved tables being set up with High Tea crockery. As we are heading into the busy season High Teas can now be booked in two sessions - 11.00 to 13.00 and 13.00 to 15.00.

***We are currently running a special for our High Tea between Monday - Friday at a reduced price of $38 per person***

Valid between 4th March - 31st August 2013

Come in and enjoy our tradtional scones, miniature cakes and ribbon sandwiches. A must for those wishing a palate pampering.

Allow yourself 1.5 to 2 hours for your High Tea

Special allergy requirements to be advised at the time of booking. (Gluten Free & Vegetarian options only)

To make a booking we require a 50% deposit. We will then call you a couple of days before to check your final number, dietary requests and obtain permission for final payment.

Please note that the High Tea experience is not a private area, just a dedicated table by the windows on the lake.

GOURMET PICNIC BOXES

Picnic boxes to collect & enjoy in the Royal Botanic Gardens..

We find that visitors love to explore the gardens first and then come to us to collect their lunch boxes to take and sit on the banks of the lake or on the rolling lawns nearby.

Adults and kids picnic box available and allergy requirements can be catered for.
